Wintery Weather

Well ladies, we did get our snow day. Now granted not like all of up north. This is no comparison, but its a day off from school! Yesterday as school dismissed the ice started coming down. We had to scrap windshields, the roads were glazed over with ice. Thankfully my SIL called and moved my hair app. from today to yesterday after school so we slide out there and I got my hair cut. We saw a small pickup teetering on a guardrail on an small bridge. Everyone was OK. This is our 1st snow day called this yr. About 9:00 the super. called on the automated calling system to say enjoy your day off tomorrow! It honestly doesn't look like many of you ladies post from my kitchen window but there is ice underneath that dusting of snow. I had been dealing with a scratchy throat anyway. I came home an laid in bed for almost 1 1/2 hrs. I had been cold all day. So we slept in this morning , Taylor is still sleeping, I think she could sleep a day away. Do any of you have teens that do that? Well I'm always thinking if I had a snow day off I would sit here and read blogs all day, but I do need to go get some laundry started, load the dishwasher, and make a bed. I'll probably meander upstairs to the craft rm. to sew on something as I catch up on a favorite soap. If I do anything ground breaking Ill post it for you all! Enjoy your day!

Painting Away!

Hi everyone, man it's cold here in Kansas. No snow, I'm almost jealous all the pics you ladies post with all the snow. We are suppose to have sleet on Tues. not enough to keep us home from school though. Darn! But it is cold and cloudy. It's been a good day to finish up some projects. The kittys got the right idea lounging by the fire. I stopped by the goodwill a few wks ago and found this mail/bill drawer and I almost forgot to take a picture before I started painting. And found some frames at the $tree. I painted them up and I like the looks of it. I'm headed up to the craft rm. to work on some samplers for the frames. I found this towel rack a while back and just decided to hang it in my dining rm. Well tomorrow is weigh in day @ww. I've lost 7 lbs. in 2 wks. I'd like to get to 10lbs. tomorrow! WE'll see. I don't want to jinx it. I do feel better just because Im doing something. I need to get on that treadmill! Well, I had better get upstairs and get something done. You all have a great wk.

A Day Off

Hello Ladies, I had a long weekend off. Today I got alot done. The daughter spent the night with a friend, the husband went off to work. I picked up my house and it stayed picked up!! I cleaned out sock and underwear drawers. God love her, but when the daughter does laundry she cant seem to get all the socks to match up. So today, I matched up all socks and threw out the oddballs. Sorted the file cabinet 08 receipts and cleaned up my messy craft room. I have been piling up quite a mess during the holiday season. I really have a nice space up there but realized I only had a tiny desk top area to work because of all the clutter. I had material stacked a mile high. Now I can see more desk area. I'm in the finished attic. The front part is my craft area, with a large counter top area and a large table top behind that. Then there is another room just like my craft area that stores all my Christmas and suitcases, seasonal clothes and next yr. rummage sale stuff. A cluttered space is a cluttered mind. I just can't think clearly when my stuff is out of order. I got a light box for Christmas. I love it. I can transfer patterns onto material nicely. No more holding it up to the window.Haha
I have finished a few more samplers. Coffee stained a couple. Figured I'd sew this winter and look for frames this summer at tag sales! I ordered some papyrus stencils and labels off of eBay. I got the stencils, still waiting on the labels. Should be getting those Tues. or Wed. Ill post then! Well I weighted in again tonight at WW. Ive lost 7 lbs. in two wks. Id like to loose 45 lbs before my 45th birthday in May! If I could try for 10lbs a month. This wk seemed to be alittle bit easier. I'm still hungry alot. My Mom and I go together. We stay for the meetings. I don't get much out of them. I get more momentum if I loose. the first week I only lost 3 1/2 lbs. and I cried all the way home. My first wk. I was hoping for 5lbs. but if I can consistently lose each wk. I'm happy. Those ladies at the meetings, AH! they talk about what triggers emotional eating? Well I could eat all the time. I'm not craving sweets I want some real food. I'm not one to make a weeks meal plan. I wish I could. And I'm bad about fixing them something and then fixing me something different. I don't know, its just such a battle. Well I have school tomorrow, I had better get to bed. have a great week everyone. Hey, we'd take some of that snow here in Kansas I love snow days at home. We have not had one good snow yet this winter. And we usually do by now. It means we will be having snow in April now. LOL!

It is in my little bathroom/ Do any of you ladies have any idea what the metal sifter thing is? Maybe a part on a milk seperater? Any clues anyone? I loved the red soap dish the minute I saw it. Have no idea where it will go or what I will use it for, but I loved it! The Old metal tub is standing in my living rm with an old quilt thrown over it.

New Family Photos

It's so late, but I just sat down for the evening. I got our Christmas family photos back today. My cousin took them and she is the one who went into premature labor. Baby Jasiah is doing fine! We got them divided up between my mom, SIL and myself. I love the one of the three girls! The one on the left is our daughter Taylor, next is my niece Chelsea and then my niece Brooke. The other photo includes our dog Scooter. The photos were taken at our home. On another post I will show you our whole family picture. Mike and I took a road trip today to a flea market less than an hr. away. I found an old wire soap dish and a strainer of some kind. Ill have to post them also. We got home and I went and bought groceries. Made a casserole for dinner tomorrow and some ww taco soup for my lunch this week. I have my first weigh in tomorrow night at WW. Well I had better get to bed. It will be 6am before I know it. Have a great Monday!

What a Long Week!

This first week back from winter break was a long one. I'm so ready for a weekend. I am a para in a special needs classroom and the kids are always ready to come back to school. It is sometimes the only routine they have, and most of our autistic kiddos love that routine! My husbands been on vacation this past week. I know, why couldn't he have been off when we were? He is a district sales manager for Sara Lee Bread Co. and holidays are no time for him to take off. This vacation was one he needed to take from 08. He has had that yucky flu bug the past couple days. I think he's feeling better tonight. What a way to spend a few vacation days. I've been stitching away upstairs in my craft rm. I made a little homespun towel for my old cabinet door in the kitchen, and yes, I am richly blessed! The little snowman hanger I saw one similar in a shop and put my own twist on. I sewed a twig for his nose. The other projects are some mats I've been wanting for the TV cabinet. I have glass shelves and I've never had anything under my collectibles. The picture is our family Christmas picture last yr. The little wooden angel is from my SIL to Taylor since she plays the flute. I thought it would be pretty in the cabinet. I have four shelves on each side of the TV. All four mats are different but match each other on the other side. The last two mats I need to coffee stain tomorrow. I have so enjoyed all of the photos and slide shows of everyones holiday decorating! I study them. Love to enlarge and look at all the details! Your homes are wonderful. I love getting ideas from you all. I know I want to expand my collection of old cutting boards and whisk brooms, crocks, just lots of things I notice in your homes that I want to look for and do! It so fun. Well, if the hubby sleeps better tonight, Ill sleep better, even the dog was up several times last night!! Have a great winter weekend.

Someday Craft Shop!

Ok Ladies, its a long ways from being finished but here is some pics of the potting shed/craft shop. Its pretty bare. We had a work bench along one side that we took out a few days ago. It made it look bigger. When we talked about turning the shed in to a craft area, I thought it might be to small. Now looking at it I worry if I can fill it? I'd like to do a lot of repurposing of items and some sewing things. I'd like to get into maybe some wholesale stuff but I know alot of wholesaler require a min. order and I don't want to tie up alot of overhead. But I would like to be able to buy some things wholesale, like materials-garlands and supplies and such. I'd love to be able to paint. Ive seen old things with snowmen painted on them. I've always wanted to paint. One wall is peg board, but I'm not sure if I want to keep it. Id like to find alot more old doors and screens and line the walls with them. i have purchased alot of barn wood I intend on using on the walls. well it will sit for the winter. I have been moving some for my tag sale finds in there for the winter. Well I have laundry to fold. Yes, I know the 13 yr old should be doing that task. Her and her dad are in there playing on her new Wii. Have a great week. I head back to school tomorrow. Ive' enjoyed getting up each morning with my cappachino to visit with you all. Ill catch up with you another day!

Saturday, January 3, 2009

Good Morning Everyone, I posted a few pics of the potting shed. A couple days ago we put some of my galvanized buckets on the side of the shed. I love the look of it. I want to find more this summer and fill in the entire side of the shed! On the back we hung hooks for the wheel barrels and wagon. I like to get them off the ground so I can mow under them. Mike has ordered a few loads of dirt to back fill around the new addition of the shed. He is on vacation this next wk. actually one left over from last yr. I want to take up the carpeting in our daughters rm. and replace it with flooring. That would be a good project for him this wk. We've been watching to see if Lowe's is going to run it on sale. They usually do the first part of Jan. In this picture he is installing a new garage door opener to the new shed door, and then the inside of the new part. I had just arranged my clay pots on the shelf and thought I'd snap a picture. Well its suppose to be almost 70 degrees today and then tomorrow in the 30's. Mike and I ran to a tag sale this morning. I know, in Jan? It was an inside must sale it all. I think someone must have had a relative die. Everything was for sale and not marked. I hate that. I did buy an old barrel, a jar of buttons, and an old wire trash can. I thought Oh no one would have even looked in the paper for a sale, the place was packed. I guess on such a warm morning everyone else had the same idea! well I had better go get something done. Have a great weekend!

What a Wii little mess!

What a Wii little mess we have here. The packaging of the new Wii Taylor got for Christmas, or should I say Taylor and Mike. He loves golf and bowling. They are in there now.We spent the most part of the day stocking the new potting shed and clearing out the old potting shed. We took out the shelving and threw a bunch of stuff away. I will be making the old shed into a craft shop this spring. i hung old galvanized tubs on the south side of the shed. I will have to go out tomorrow and take some pics. i never think to so that when I'm in the midst of things. Tomorrow I may run to a flea market about 20 miles away from town, I haven't been there in yrs. Today I sat and ordered family pictures we had taken at Christmas. My cousin took them, then went into premature delivery. So we are just now ordering. I will post some when I get them. I can't pull them off the photo story until I purchase them. That is a picture of the old clothes I bought at the goodwill for the wool. I have since cut them into usable cloth. Well I had better get up to my sewing rm. I have been staying up until 12 or so and then wanting to sleep late in the morning. We go back to school on Mon. and i will have to hit the floor at 6am again,YUG. I have always been a late night person, but like to get up later. Well have a great night!
