I'm so ready for Christmas decorating

but.. Taylor is attending a semi formal dance on Friday night and her and her boyfriend and another couple are coming over at 6 on Fri along with their parents to take pictures in front of our fireplace that is decorated for fall. Ill post pics of them!!!!
I haven't posted for awhile but I haven't been idle! I have a number of stitches made up. Last night I finished up on one of these and will make a few pillows of of them.

I took a spin off of My God Jar and made a few snack, dog treat and cookie jars to sell at school and my booth.

I have had request for some candle wraps to be sold separate at me booth so I made up a few this weeks. Along with a pillow and some candle mats. I have had the sampler done just didn't have it framed until last night.

Another stitched I have done. I like this one, maybe it won't sell and I'll keep this one! Mike was gone last night with his brother and nephew to buy a new motorcycle in Joplin Missouri. Taylor also spent the night in Joplin. Her and a best friend celebrated the friends birthday buy shopping all day. She came home with a pair of very holey jeans, a pair of Ugh boots and a very cute long gray sweater from Hollister. Anyway with them gone I got alot done last night.

I have had these table runners done for a few days too. I love the black. I think they will sell well at my booth. I have gone in and switched out the fall things for a few winter and Christmas items. It's going pretty good.

I have pulled down a few Christmas trees every time I come down from my craft room. I bought another pencil tree yesterday at Hobby Lobby for behind my dining rm table. Last yr. I used a lg and med. size pencil tree grouped together and didn't use my big Christmas tree. I really liked it. So I think I will try that again this yr.

Some of my little trees I place around my fireplace and here and there.

And then the mass of stuff I have collected. I try to hit a local downtown crafty store every yr the day after Christmas so the following yr. I have many new Christmas treasures to display! Its so fun to get it all out and think Oh I have this to use this yr!!! So after the pictures on Fri. I will begin to decorate. We are having Thanksgiving at my moms this yr. She just got new carpeting this week. And I will have Christmas at my house. Well I need to go to the grocery store and I want to start on some holiday signs. I will post the pics of Taylor and her friends for semi formal next weekend. Have a great week!

Some of my pics are in the wrong spots. This is Taylor in a police car. The cheer leaders were so cold the police man told them they could sit in the car before the parade began. She said they were arrested for being too pretty!!

Just when you think

all the good tag sales are over for the season you run across one! I had slept in for once and the neighbor called and said, "get out here, theres a good one! I head out and she was right. She had saved this old chicken feeder for me for $2. But my eye caught a few more treasures!

The old black boots will be cute in the yard for $1. Love the old church chair for $1, the old small wooden box for $1, table legs he wanted $4, I think I gave him $3. The old picture frame I can make a sampler for.

Just fell in love with these two vintage bedside clocks for $3 each. The old red can is a coffee can and a couple enamelware things.

I bought all of this inside the bucket for $5. It came with lots of lids!! I rented a booth at a new consignment shop uptown late last week. The Country Calico Cat. Ill have to post some pics of it. I fell into a great booth. Actually a bigger booth that I'm sharing than a booth for one. It's #2, great location. I set it up with lots of my fall things and with the Neewollah celebration starting this coming week I hope to sell a few things. I did well with selling them at school. I ended up bringing in stuff three times there. I like the looks of my booth. I go in every so often and do some arranging. I'll see how things go through the holidays. It's $35 a month rent and 10% of sales. Well see. Well the husband is on a long weekend bike run. Left Fri. morning with several guys for a run down into Arkansas. He had called and said the leave where beautiful. He will return Sun evening. It's gorgeous weather today. The leaves in my yard are stunning, all around town they are perfect. It will look nice for the Neewollah festivities this week. Hope the rain stays away. The daughter and her boyfriend went to the play last night. It will run until tomorrow and then on Mon. the talent show and Tues. the coronation of our Queen, may local senior girls will go out for this title of Queen Neelah!! Wed. starts the down town carnival rides and many great street acts. We have a huge stage and feature many local talents and some are brought in to sing each evening. The street are lined with great smelling food vendors and on Thurs. we have a Doo Dah parade, many adults dress up to a themed parade. Fri. we have the Kiddie Parade with thousands of kids and their parents dressing up, many hours are spent on float decorations for the kiddies. And on Sat. is our Grand Parade, people coming from miles away, bands attending, it sometimes last 3 hrs.!! Our population will grow for the day from a small town of 10,000 to as many as 80,000. It's really a fun fun time for Independence. You can check us out at www.neewollah.com Well it's to pretty for me to sit here much longer. Outside is calling me and I could find tons of things to work on. Have a great weekend!

More fall signs

Well this is what has been keeping me busy. This and running the daughter around. This is my third batch of goodies I have made. I sold out twice at school and these I have made for my sister in laws beauty shop. She always lets me stick a few of my goods out there. My neighbor and another friend want to shop before I take them out to the beauty shop. I really sold the BOO signs well. I can't tell you how many of those I made.
I like to cut them out and paint one night and then stencil, sand and stain the next. It just takes that stain so long to dry. I do use a blowdryer to speed it along.

I aged some tags and wrote little things on there. I think it adds to the primness.

Oh here is my buy of the week!! I am so excited about these two platters. We have this beautiful bed and breakfast about 2-3 blocks from our home. It is called Glenclift Farms. I think in its day it use to be a dairy farms. It is a sprawling acreage of land with a huge beautiful home. Just huge. a stable and barn that I swear I could live in. Split rail fence and even a few horses. My daughter went to a halloween party out there a few yrs ago and it was decorated so awesome. It was lite up and there were kids in the loft and it was just all aglow. anyway, they had a tag sale out there sat. and I went early of course. They had these two enamelware meat platters for sale. She wanted $20 each. Well I didn't want to give that for them so I asked her bottom dollar. Well I bought 1 for $15 and got her number to see if she still had it at the end of the day. Called her back about 2ish and bought the other one for $10!! I was so excited.

Look at the great patina in the enamel. I myself have never seen big platters like this before in enamel.

I think I will really use them alot!

This was my Sat. night project. We went to the Friday night football game and it was so cold. We about froze. Great game but we lost. It was 34-34 in the final second, had to go into sudden death and we lost. Bummer. But so many people had these flannel lap blankets and I told a friend that I always sit with that I should whip us up one of those this weekend. So I did!! Our mascot is a Bulldog and I found this paw print material at Hobby Lobby. We should be a bit warmer next Friday evening. Well I'm in there making Italian spaghetti and doing laundry. I bought some boxes at Hobby Lobby yesterday and I will try to put a coat of paint on them. I also want to mow if it dries up. I love to mow. It's my therapy. Its been so damp out and its about 50 degrees and cloudy today. Well enjoy your weekend. I will have to post about our annual Neewollah celebration we have here in Independence Ks. Our town is starting to scamper around in preparation for the week of fun!!

Trick or Treat

I've been working in my craft room at night, making a few things to take to school this week. Sometimes I make a few things up and take them into the workroom at school and the kind ladies I work with buy them up. This yr. I made some of the cute candy corn blocks. I tied them together in a bundle and added a prim tag. Then I had made myself some fall signs and had some scraps of wood left over and thought I'd make some small signs. I added some curly wire and scraps of material to some and I like how they turned out. I tried a few fall candle mats too!
More stenciling on fall signs. I also made some prim sunflowers I think I will take. I hit a few tag sales this morning. Last night I thought I'd just sleep in and once again I was wide awake at 6:30 so I got up and got the adds out and away I went. Lucky I did. The first few I didn't find much. I did find 4 small decoy ducks for my pool. A darling little metal lunch pail and a few old metal funnels. And then I thought I'd head home. I wasn't going to stop by the last one. I didn't figure from the add they wouldn't have anything I needed. Listed a lot of baby stuff. Well I drove by and there was the dresser I have been looking for for Taylor's room. Solid wood and priced at $12. I bought that puppy up fast and loaded it and off to the paint store I went. It was a nice light shade but I wanted to paint it white to match the rest of her furniture. Her old dresser had seen better days and one of the drawers was off the track. It was the dresser we used with her crib! So I primed and painted it today and got it loaded up with her under clothes while she is gone this evening. She left to attend a Kansas City Royals home game tonight with her boyfriend and his parents. She wont get back till late tonight. So I cleaned her room, changed her sheets, swept the floor and dumped out her trash. Something gross was growing in that trash can. It had attracted fruit flies, what ever it was. Oh! Why does she choose to live in such a messy room? I have placed clean folded clothes on her bed to be put away before she goes to bed and she will just sleep right on them! Sometimes you cannot see her floor because of all the clothes on it. I know its my fault, my mother tells me I let her get by with it all the time.

Here is a God jar I made a friend at work the other day. we where talking the other day and she said, hey when you are sitting at home with nothing to do and you are thinking, What could I make Vicki today, could you make me a God jar, to put all my prayers and worries I have over to God? Well sure, so that evening I whipped up this God Jar for her. Well it's late but I'm not going to bed until Taylor get home, so I guess I'll go read some post from you all today. Maybe I'll post some pics of the dresser tomorrow and some of my finds from tag sales today. Enjoy your Sunday tomorrow.

100 mile Rummage Sale

Well I've been back to Hobby Lobby and bought more pumpkins. I love these. I played around a little yesterday in the kitchen with them. Made another display on my stove board. Won't be quiet so heavy for the daughter to lift off when she needs the stove. That has been the big complaint with her. It's to inconvenient when she wants to cook.
I moved the board that sat on the table over to my cabinet and swap things around. I gathered some acorns from the yard to put in the small wooden bowl for fall.

On Fri. Mike and I took off of work and headed on the 2nd annual 100 mile tag sale. we left the house at 5:30 so we could be in the next small town north of us. We traveled most of the day. I spent a total of $3. No not $3oo. or even $30, just $3. Not including breakfast and an occasional pop. Mike spent $15 I think. We were so disappointed. I don't know if it was because it was Fri. and many people were working or what. So I had planned not to go back out on Sat. Well I slept till about 7 and my SIL called and said oh I had missed a good one locally. My neighbor had called and said she had bought me a couple things at this sale too. So I scurried around and made my way over there and found a few things left. A couple bushel baskets and this great old metal laundry basket, and some sewing drawers. Well then I thought I might as well heard back to the town about 45 min. away. Taylor needed some black and orange ribbon for her hair for cheerleading on Mon. night. So off I went. I passed up a few and then I hit the mother load!! This family was selling off their dads stuff. Mom was there to price all the treasures but dad had loved auctions and never wanted to part with any of it. Oh the stuff I got!!!!!!

There where just outbuildings full of things. You could go pull stuff out and the lady would price it. there were some things I put back because she was to high for me. But I dug and dug! Watering cans and the big water jugs I found in an old shed. The wire rack she wanted a dime for. Old pulleys, I love the little old mailbox. And the red light works!

Here is a good shot of the laundry basket, it has holes in the sides of it with wooden handles. The utility table was holding a bunch of junk and I got it for $1. My neighbor bought me the kettle and oil can on top. Oh, and can you see the string of bells on the watering jug? They have the prettiest sound. the first time I heard them I thought of an old general store.

I found more bushel baskets. like three for .25!! And of course I love that galvanized!

This is the bargains I got on Fri. i love the grater. And this box of three compartments I have been looking for forever. I want to hang it and place three bowls in it. I found some prim material for $1

I have been doing a few repurposing a few weeks ago and just not posting them. These were a few things I have got at tag sales and redone. Love the little stool. Ill be saving them for my someday shop. There were many road side vendors out on the sale but many of them were dealers and so to high for my wallet. I loved what they had but I like to find it before they get to it! Well lst night I started working on a few more fall signs and I'm trying my had at the Pickled Peppers 2x4 wooden candy corn. Got a set painted black last night so I'm ready to paint in between laundry loads! Have a great Sunday!!
