Home safe and sound...

The world travelers made it home safe and sound. Thier flight was delayed by bad weather and they got home alittle after 1:00am. We stayed up till almost 3, talking and looking at her pictures. She slept till 5:30 the next day!! Mike slept till 10 am. and my hubby is an early riser. They had a great time, seeing too much in such a short time was the only complaint. They both would go back in a minute they say! Here they are in front of the White House. There were protesters near here that had some very graphic posters about treatment of prisoners. That really bothered Taylor and has stuck with her. She did spot Mr. President once!!
I thought this was cute! Here she is holding the Washington Monument!! It was cool and rainy most of the days. Mike did alright on his leg. I'm back to laundry everyday, back to having to fix supper everyday, and I'm just again now able to get my time on the computer!! THEIR BACK!!

I hit pay dirt again this past weekend on old treasures!! Not much at the tag sales, but I needed to go to Hobby Lobby in Bartlesville and on the way they were having a prairie days tracker pull and flea market. I thought everything was so high. enamelware tubs were 10-15 $. Many treasures I have picked up for a little of nothing they wanted and arm and a leg for. These two beauties, the guy wanted $20.00 each!! Now I thought there is no way I would pay that. I had picked up two horse brushes (you can see in the washroom bucket) for $2.00 each right before spotting these. I picked up the soap trays and looked at them. He said oh you could take those to canton tx. and get twice for that. I said well, I wouldn't be reselling them, they would just go into my bathroom at home. I started to put then down and he said, well I could make you a deal on both. I thought well probably not the kind of deal I'm thinking. He said how about 20.oo for both? Hum! I said how about 20.00 for the two trays and the the two brushed? He took it! Yea, I brought them home!!

This old basket I bought on my way out of town at a tag sale for 5.00 and then I stopped by a flea market that is going out of business. 50% off everything but I still would not pay that price for most of thier stuff. But I spotted this old TG&Y basket! My husband was a TG&Y assistant manager while we were dating. He started as a stock boy and made his way up into management right before we married, so I knew he would love this!! I thought we could put paper plates in it on the 4th of July!

Here's a pic of the two horse brushes I bought. I like them in the old bucket!! Well the hubby is home tomorrow. I'm hoping to get him to replumb the gas grill from a tank to the gas line we already have near the grill. He bought a converter kit a few wks. ago and I just ran out of gas in the tank the other night. I grill quite a bit. Friday we leave for Afton Ok. to a yrly. family getaway to my uncles house he has on the lake. We all bring foods and enjoy boating, wave runners and swimming. It was suppose to be camping, when we started this, but my mom , myself and my brothers family believe roughing it is a motel 6 with black and white tv!! So we always make motel reservations in town and about bedtime head for the nice clean shower and clean sheets with that nice air conditioning. We will head home on Sunday afternoon. Well had better get to bed, Taylor has started cheer leading practice and conditioning at 6:00 am and I have to get her there. Have a great Wednesday!!

Well it was my last day of spring break before heading back to work. It has been a great break too! We had a list of things to get done and I think we accomplished it!! This morning I skipped out early and was sitting at my favorite flea market when the doors opened~about an hr. away! But it is a beautiful drive, full of pastures with new green wheat poking through the ground. At one point I saw two geese very near the highway and I swear a 100 yds away a wild turkey was near the highway. I saw a coyote as I was headed there way out in a field. It was a very pleasant drive. I had a great Christian station I was singing to, it made a perfect day. Now I always find something there, but I left home with no expectations. It must have worked because I hit pay dirt today. I came home with my suburban backend full! The old cooler I pd. $3.00, the geraniums I got at hobby lobby on Sat, the cooler doesn't have a lid but I think I'll put flowers in it anyway. I love the cooler! The old black chair doesn't have a seat in it, but again I think I have some graniteware that will fit in the hole and I will put a plant in it, Oh I have some antique tools I could put in the tub! The three jars, I so didn't need, well I didn't need any of this But..... the jars were 1/2 price. I pd. $2.00 each and they are big jars with zinc lids, well I couldn't just leave them there. I have my new labels I bought from Yankee Lane that I can put on them. The scales I pd. $7.50. I could have sworn someone out there wanted to do some bartering for some scales. I have been wanting a noodle board so bad, but Sat. evening we went to Lowe's and we found precut boards glued together wide enough to cover my stove. Mike is going to work on it for me sometime soon. I have been saving pictures from all your kitchens to choose just the one I want him to make for me!! I am so thrilled. I have been wanting one of those forever!! Anyway, there I found another granite ware tray. And the memo board I think I will paint up and try to resale in my shop. The little rectangle screen I pd. $5.oo for and the big screen door I pd. $19.00 now I think that was to much, but I got it anyway. Remember I'm going to line some of the walls in my shop with screens. We're not telling Mike I pd. $19.oo for the screen, he would have thought that was ridiculous!~ Then I stopped by Wal-mart and bought the first two geraniums of the summer. I know they will get cheaper, pd. $5.50 for each. I will be potting about 15-20 pots up so I will wait for the smaller pots to come in before buying tons. But they will be a pretty start to my porch. Well as promised, here my mom is modeling her new toothbrush bracelet! yes, ladies I did say toothbrush bracelet. Now I may live under a rock but I for sure have never seen a toothbrush bracelet. Mom says a friend of her's made them for all the Thursday lunch ladies( they all meet for lunch out on Thurs.) It seems you heat up the toothbrush and bend it and let it cool and glue little jewels on the bracelet! Hum!!!! Oh, of course, first you take off the bristles! Of course! Well its getting late and I will need to be getting up early in the am. Lots of you have stopped in to get added to my giveaway, thanks so much for the sweet comments. Have a great Monday everyone!

Saturday Morning Treasures

Hi ladies, the hubby and I hit the neighboring town of Caney and found these goodies this morning. We actually woke up to thunder and rain so we got a late start. The old bicycle was worth the trip. He wanted $25.00, now to know my husband! He will never pay full price for anything. And me,well I don't often haggel with anyones price. So I tell Mike I would pay $15.00 for the bike so Mike offers $10.00. The guy says, take it home!! I placed it by the playhouse for now. The old water cooler and galvanized tub, along with two brand new wooden cutting boards I paid $ 1.50 for all 4 items. I had been looking for a couple old metal chairs to paint on. i had seen two at a sale today but we didnt go back. I get home this morning and these two old chairs are sitting on my deck. I still dont know who they are from? Could be a girl from work. I will find out Monday. I want to paint on them! The second photo is of the two cutting boards. I will post what I have done with them later. The small old galvanized pan came from my neighbors rummage sale today. We stopped by a flea market on the way home and I found the two old tins. the two bottles, I want to make labels for. the old crock I pd. .25 cents, and the 10 zinc lids I pd. $5.00. All in all it was a great day! Then my cousin Towanna came over to show her friend my shutters in my living rm. and I showed her my witch hat on the spring. She mentioned she had an old scrap pile at her house with an old mattress spring in it to be hauled away. I made a bee line out there and salvaged 8 springs!! She will call me sometimes to look through her burn pile. Its so true, one womens junk is another womens treasure!!!!! Well tomorrow I want to chalk board paint something i bought at a tag sale.. I will try to post that too. I am at or almost at 50 post. Another 50 and I will have to have my first giveaway!! You ladies have a great Sunday tomorrow!

Good Sat. morning everyone, I had no intentionsof going tag saleing today, not many of them advertised and I wanted to sleep in. Well I got up around 8 and took my recycle things to the center and on the way back hit a sale and bought some wooden spools to fill some jars with. Them saw another one andthey didnt have anything but thier nieghbors had 5 sets of old shutters in the trash. They said I could have them!! Got home and thought I had done well for the day. The hubby called and said Oh you should see what I have for you. He pulled in the driveway with the old mustard glider, the galvanized washtub, the 2 enamelware pans,2 old watering cans and several boxes of jars!! I guess Im making more jars for my craft show. Fri. he came home with the old weather vane. Ive been looking for one all summer to set out in yard. The photo of the fence down happened ealy this morning. Mike was going to work and heard something, a herd of deer where coming through the yard and he must of spooked them and they jumped the splitrail and evidently didn't make it over. He says he can fix it this weekend. The splitfence runs the whole length of teh side yard behind the pool. One yr. he ask what I wanted for my birthday and I said a splitrail fence! The primitve doll is something I got this week from some of my prize money from the Country Sampler Contest I won. I orderd some fall things, Ill update you on and them I waiting to sped the ramainder on Christams stuff! The sampler I have just finished this wk. I had bought the frame at a tag sale, painted it up and did the sampler. I got the saying off the site. I like it so much I might keep it. Well its a beautiful Sat. day and cool, i have stuff to do inside, but the outside is pulling me that way. I might go out and find a place for my new glider. You ladies have a great weekend!~
