Bathroom is almost finished...

Almost. I love how the distressed paint looks. I keep finding old bottles to add vintage labels on. I still need to find some door pulls. I found drawer pulls for the vanity. I added the white enamelware to accent the black.
My husband found the old doctors bag almost a yr. ago, not really having a great place for it I kept it and now I love it up on the cabinet above the toilet. More old bottles and vintage labels. I added vanilla colored water to the bottles.

For my lighting I am on the look out for three different old globes. This may be a difficult task. I need to just get the measurements and carry them with me and when I find a globe at a tag sale, see if it will fit. I want three different little globes on each light fix.

The pitch fork may go above the window or I may try to use it as a window treatment? I'm waiting for Kruenpepper Creek Gifts to restock their Billy Jacobs Barn Border and I will order that and put it up in here!! I went with cream rugs, and I still have frames sitting on the floor waiting for some inspiration.

I still have a remnant of material up to the window. It is a coordinating material to the shower curtain I ordered but I don't know yet if I will make a valance or full curtains. Well I wish I could have waited until it was finished but I wanted you to see what I have been working on! I will give updates as I get things accomplished!

Red Hot Firecracker Day...

I finished up my firecrackers today and I love them. I think they turned out HOT! This was taken after I sanded them and before I stained them. I just took my palm sander upside down and rolled the dowel rod over it and it worked great.
I put a few in the galvanized tin and a few in the painted black bowl. Two dowel rods made about 36 of them. I cut them at random lengths like Char suggested! Thanks Char so much for the tutorial. I so enjoyed making them! I might make more and fill an old jar with them!!

They look so cute with the fuse glue on! I'm ready for the fourth!!

Today I had a gentleman call me to see if I wanted an old typewriter his mother in law was selling. I really didn't have a use for it, but this little thing caught my eye. They had $15.00 OBO, so I offered $10.00 and they took it. Now what am I going to do with it you ask? It wasn't my idea, it was Ki's from Junkmarket! I saw in her magazine that someone used one of these to ice down can or bottled pop ! Great idea hu! Wish I had thought of it, taking off the lid and throwing a bag of ice in it and filling it up with drinks at my next cookout!! I love the little cabinet that comes with it. The cooker just lifts off! Isn't that cute, now if I had been thinking I would have downloaded the picture from the book so you ladies could see one in action. Sorry, I have been blogging for over 1 yr. now and I haven't even figured out how to download more than 5 pictures at a time. You know when you make a new post, there are only spaces for 5 photos, how do you get more??

Well my sister-in-law and her neighbor are having a tag sale in the morning and I went over tonight to shop early! I bought the refrigerator bottle from her neighbor for .50 and the little bowl for $1.00, the shaker box I got for .75. Ill paint it black of course!! Speaking of black! I'm almost done with my bathroom. My shower curtain arrived in the mail today. Beth had one in her new bathroom and she shared the website she got it from and I ordered on on Mon. It looks so good. I need to make a valance, I'm thinking about using a pitch fork for the rod. I don't know yet how I will pull that off. And I am juggling some ideas on my lighting. If I knew how to post more than 5 pics at a time, I could show you. Well Mike called earlier and their flight had been delayed due to bad weather. They were sitting on the plane expected to leave in 15 min. If they arrived on time to catch their next flight, they would only be 1 1/2 hrs. late. But if they miss the flight, they may have to sleep in Dallas Fort Worth. And no they did not pack carry on clothes as he did on the flight up there. It's now been 3 hrs. since I last spoke to him, I'm not sure what's going on yet. Well I'm off to tag sales again in the morning, wish me luck, it's suppose to be a beautiful day. Oh Mom went back out today and the goat was not in the fence!!!!And yes, she did lose sleep over it!

Landed Safely

Well Taylor called this morning and she and her dad have arrived safely in Washington DC! They were on their way to eat at McDonald's and then off to the National Zoo. It was Taylor's first flight. She said it was a little bumpy ,but fun. I hope they got a little sleep. They left here at 3:00 am on a chartered bus to arrive at the Tulsa airport. Then onto their flight to D.C. They won't even get to the motel until 9:30 tonight. Their scheduale is jam packed with things to do everyday while they are there. I know they will have fun, if you can have fun with 33- 14 yrs. olds.
This is my project for today. I actually started alittle yesterday with the washstand and doors. This morning I tackled the vanity, mirror and will probably start on the light fixture soon. I'm in between coats right now. Taking a break!

I think I'm going to love it. My mom called and asked what I was doing this morning and I said, painting my bathroom black. Well she thought I had gone crazy! No mom just the furnishings, not the walls. I ordered a back check shower curtain yesterday. I hope to have most of this done by the time they get back. Taylor and Mike both use this bathroom the most. Well I'll share more pics later, have a great day!

Crocks, frames and projects!

Two post in one day, I could scare myself! But it is getting me closer to my 100th post, and I do have a giveaway ready!!! Yesterday, I hit a few TS in Joplin. The big blue frame was an 08 calender. I could see it painted black and a nice big sampler put in it. I picked up a couple more nice frames I plan to paint. I got home and realized I now have tons of them. I need to stop with the frames. I loved the crock I found for $1.00. I put it on the hearth of the fireplace. I've had my eye open for old cutting boards, without having to pay to much for them. I think I pd. $3.95 for this one. I like the look of those I see on many of your blogs behind a crock on a counter top. I am wanting to get some pine to make a noodle board for my gas stove. I want one of those so bad! I have a hard time passing up any grater and the long old treenware with the cinnamon sticks i liked, I will possibly put a candle in that with some small berries. I have finished some small samplers in those $ store frames I bought a while back. I like how those turned out. I like to watch TV and stitch in the evenings up in my craft rm. Taylor is going to a Valentines Dance tonight. Had to have a new sparkly dress and shoes. To be in 8th grade again, no actually I wouldn't want to do that again~
all her little friends are meeting at a friends house to get ready. Maybe I'll post a picture of her tonight! well I have better go see what else I can get done before the day is over. Have a great one.

What a Long Week!

This first week back from winter break was a long one. I'm so ready for a weekend. I am a para in a special needs classroom and the kids are always ready to come back to school. It is sometimes the only routine they have, and most of our autistic kiddos love that routine! My husbands been on vacation this past week. I know, why couldn't he have been off when we were? He is a district sales manager for Sara Lee Bread Co. and holidays are no time for him to take off. This vacation was one he needed to take from 08. He has had that yucky flu bug the past couple days. I think he's feeling better tonight. What a way to spend a few vacation days. I've been stitching away upstairs in my craft rm. I made a little homespun towel for my old cabinet door in the kitchen, and yes, I am richly blessed! The little snowman hanger I saw one similar in a shop and put my own twist on. I sewed a twig for his nose. The other projects are some mats I've been wanting for the TV cabinet. I have glass shelves and I've never had anything under my collectibles. The picture is our family Christmas picture last yr. The little wooden angel is from my SIL to Taylor since she plays the flute. I thought it would be pretty in the cabinet. I have four shelves on each side of the TV. All four mats are different but match each other on the other side. The last two mats I need to coffee stain tomorrow. I have so enjoyed all of the photos and slide shows of everyones holiday decorating! I study them. Love to enlarge and look at all the details! Your homes are wonderful. I love getting ideas from you all. I know I want to expand my collection of old cutting boards and whisk brooms, crocks, just lots of things I notice in your homes that I want to look for and do! It so fun. Well, if the hubby sleeps better tonight, Ill sleep better, even the dog was up several times last night!! Have a great winter weekend.

Catching Up

Well, I guess I have been busy. I do have these things to show for. Do you ever find yourself busy all day, but at the day end of the day you have nothing done. Yesterday was that kind of day. I ran a few errands, bought groceries and it was early afternoon already! I did get my Christmas down. I still have a few boxes to carry upstairs. I had intended on leaving up a few trees with just the lights on. I love to have the lights from the trees glowing in the living rm. But once I started hauling it up there I thought Oh well I might as well get it all. I did buy new winter garland on clearance and I redid my mantle, post office box and TV cabinet. So i will leave up some snowmen there. Ive been working on a few stitchery things. The snowmen and word things I will frame, the table mat will go on my coffee table. I have been wanting to make some mats for the end tables and TV cabinet glass shelves. I did finish me first penny rug mats. I'm pretty happy with them. The snowman one took forever. I now know why they are so pricey to buy!!! You appreciate them alot more after making one yourself. i bought a few clothing items of wool yesterday at a goodwill to make more penny mats! Well, I have spent most of the morning catching up on reading your post so I had better get something done elsewhere! Ill be back this afternoon.

Thursday Projects

Good afternoon everyone, I'm home for my lunch break and thought I'd post a few things I've been doing. It's my first show and sometimes you question yourself, do I have enough or do I have to much? Will it sell or will I sell out? I have been doing some runners and candle mats. I love doing candle mats they go so fast. The muslin runner took forever. I also hope everyone appreciates the black as much as I do. We will see. The box of trim is from my cousin. She called one evening and said she had some porch post and trim plus a pile next to her shop. Take what I wanted. Oh my, I think I hauled home 6-8 porch post, several big thick ones, this trim was on either side of the post. I have seen angel wings made out of them. Ill find some use for them. the two pillows I bought at a tag sale this summer. I love the patterns. I will copy those and make some. Just thought I would post while I had a minute. I have loved all the Christmas music on everyone blogs. I go to school humming Christmas tunes. I wore a snowman pin yesterday. It was 70 degrees!!Today it is blustery. I hope to put up more decorations this weekend and I will post that. My cousin brought over her two girls the other day to take Christmas card pics. The fire was going and a few trees are up with just lights. Have a great Thursday!

Finished Projects

Just a quick post, I finished these two projects this weekend. The sampler pattern I got from Homeberries

site. It made up fast and the frame came from my summer finds at tag sales. The magazine rack was also another tag sale find. It was white and I painted and aged it. Enjoy the rest of your beautiful fall Sunday!

My Day Off Projects!

Hi everyone, its already late tonight, but i wanted to post what I have been working on today as I had the day off. I started the jean shirt on Wed. night and finished it up today. I have made tons of applique shirts and sweatshirts in the past few yrs. and sold them at school. i had a few shirts left in my stock and I will try to get them stitched up for my Dec. 6th craft show. I have lots of patterns I have drawn up. I always
like to add a little something on the back of the shirt too. the sampler I did today. Leslie from My Country Home posted a site with some free samplers, Homeberries and I copied off several. I think I can stain and frame this tomorrow! the other picture is of an old window frame I bought at a tag sale. It had a pressed flower in the glass along with the towel rack. I took out the glass and added a chalkboard. I think I will add it to my craft stuff. Well its late and I need sleep!!

Happy Fall Y'all!!

Hello Ladies, I found the tutorial on the Carmel apples and ran to the $ tree. It only took a few minutes to make them and they look so real. I just picked up my daughter from volleyball and on the way home I said your going to love what I made tonight. She ran in and said Yum!! I said don't touch it, its not real and their wet! I'm going back out tomorrow and buy up the rest of them. I also bought some pomegranates, don't they look real! i took my goodies to school and sold all 10 witch hats with 3 more orders and 3 of my stockings and almost all of my pumpkin baskets. The teachers really like my stuff when i bring it in. I took a pic of the chalk board I have hanging on my upstairs doorway. I found 3 of these at a tag sale this summer, and the last pic is of a large frame I found. I want to hang it on the wall with a primitive doll inside of it, but I'm running out of wall space. well just a quick post for today. Its late, but I just watched the 2 hr. of Grays Anatomy and I'm still wired. Well have a great Friday!

Good afternoon, I'm taking a quick moment to post Taylor's new locker storing her TV. We just moved it in her room and she is in there cleaning! Yea! I love the hooks on the side for her robe and purses. She has her DVD player and alarm clock, magazines and tapes. It turned out pretty cool for $5.00 and some paint! On to more crafting! have a great Sunday!
